A Conversation with Steve Welsh & Emma Bernstein from Sport England and Professor Marie Young from the University of Western Cape, South Africa.
Description: The pandemic, cost of living pressures and sustainability expectations are having an impact on the delivery of public leisure experiences around the world. Sport England released their report, Future of Public Sector Leisure, in late 2022. The report provides a framework to reposition traditional public leisure into an active wellbeing service designed to create healthier and more active communities.
The webinar will explore why and how Sport England developed the Future of Public SectorLeisure project to inform leisure managers in other countries who may want to address similar challenges.
The conversation with Steve Welsh & Emma Bernstein from Sport England and Marie Young from South Africa will explain:
- Why Sport England initiated the project?
- How Sport England engaged with stakeholders in the project?
- What lessons have been learned to guide similar policy developments in other parts of the world?
- How Sport England and stakeholders are evaluating and researching the impacts of the project?
